About the Farm

The farm we are working with in Egypt was founded in 1979 on an area of 70 acres of desert sand. Today it extends over 2000 acres, and is an example of the success and quality of the bio-dynamic method and sustainability at an international level.

The herbs are growing in two seasons. The winter season sees the cultivation of Fennel and Camomile, and the summer Hibiscus, Peppermint and Spearmint. camomile field in Egypt
They are grown in single crop fields within suitable Biodynamic crop rotation.

The compost is mainly made of the residuals of former crops and cow manure from the farm herd. This is heaped, and to this biodynamic prepararions are added to make an excellent quality of compost.

From its founding, the farm has developed with a series of long term objectives in mind:

  1. The development of biodynamic agricultural methods suitable for Egypts climate, agricultural conditions and all the crops planted in Egypt.
  2. The development and production of all kinds of consumer products and servies according to the needs of the consumer, always bearing in mind, that these products must be of the highest quality, reliable in efficacy, taste and convenience basing on the responsibility towards our environment.
  3. The "human" orientated marketing of above products shall be in a social manner based on co-operation, association and brotherhood instead of egoism, competition and warship.
  4. All employees should have continuous access to development, education and training to achieve self realization. They should also have the unconditional right to freely express their opinion and ideas.
  5. The social frame and the social conditions of co-operation between the employees should be within clear, well defined regulations and principles allowing the estblishment of a healthy society.
  6. The support and co-operation with organisations, who aim to actively participate in the social and cultural development in Egypt (schools, kindergartens, adult education, hospitals etc.)
  7. To spread the farms' idea all over Egypt amd to enable other projects to apply the farms' concept successfully as a base for the development of Egypt's future generations.
