Minimum Order Values for Delivery


A Minimum Order Value for Delivery is the value your order must reach in order to cover the cost of processing, including delivery. Once this value is reached, delivery is free of charge. The value is calculated before VAT and possible out of stock items. If the value of an order is reduced due to out of stocks, we will still deliver your order. Please note that we cannot make follow on deliveries with any previously out of stock items from an order, unless the value of those items meets our minimum order value for delivery.

We reserve the right to make delivery using our own vehicles or an independent carrier.


Essential Vehicles:

Our designated Dorset, West Wales, Cornwall, Hampshire & London runs: £250

Bristol and Bath city limits: £150

All other runs: £200

Using a carrier: subject to confirmation

Priority Service and Standard Service

 
In order to encourage our customers to help us to provide a better service, we operate what we call our Priority Service and our Standard Service. This is how they differ:

Priority Service
Orders received by 5.30pm on the day prior to collation (the day before the day before delivery) are subject to our Priority Service. These orders are collated before all others, which means that on the day before delivery we will inform you of any shortages and the invoice value if required. This will give you the chance to make additions or substitutions. We are usually able to contact you around late midday with this information.

Standard Service
Orders received by 11.00am on the day of collation (the day before delivery) are subject to our Standard Service. This service involves collation and delivery only: we are not able to provide information about shortages or order value.

Making Additions to an Order

If you wish to make additions to an existing order after 11.00am on the day before delivery (i.e. after our initial order deadline), then please note the following limitations: 1) The deadline for making additions is 3.30pm on the day before delivery. Because of other procedural implications, we must regard this deadline as absolute and adhere to it strictly. Additions will not be made after this time.

2) We will accept up to ten additions after 11.00am on the day before delivery. This allows us to monitor vehicle payload, and helps to avoid extensive re-organisation of a load once it has been collated. These additions will appear on a separate invoice.

3) Orders split between more than one invoice cannot receive a consolidated order value discount. Consolidated order value discount can be issued monthly in the form of a credit note – please refer to information regarding our Plan B discount scheme, towards the back of this price list.

Christmas delivery schedule

The Christmas and New Year period causes us the most upheavals to our delivery schedule of any of the holidays. Please have a look at the following information to see how you will be affected. Please contact Sales at Essential if you have any queries about it.

Before Christmas:

All deliveries during the week beginning Monday 18th December will be as normal. However, Mon 18th is Cornwall A + B week combined and orders must be placed by 11am Friday 15th December. Cash & Carry will be open as usual on Friday 22nd Dec.

After New Year:

There will be no Cornwall delivery the week beggining 1st January.
Jan 2nd: Chipps and Near East; Orders must be placed by 11am Friday 22nd December. (Before Xmas!)
Jan 8th : Cornwall A + B; Orders must be placed by 11am Friday 5th January.
Jan 15th:Cornwall A; then alternating henceforth.
Bristol Orders: Deferred from Mon 1st to Wed 3rd January; Orders must be placed by 11am Tuesday 2nd January.
